If you are considering an autism and/or ADHD assessment, here is what to expect.
Step 1: Booking Your Appointment
You book an appointment.
You will receive a confirmation email with screening questionnaires and forms.
These can be completed on a phone or computer.
The forms help gather important background information.
Step 2: Initial Appointment (Clinical Interview)
We meet for a general interview (in person or via telehealth).
I will ask about your history, experiences, strengths, and challenges.
Based on this, I will create an assessment plan that best suits your needs.
Step 3: Assessment Process (Varies by Person)
The next steps depend on what we learn in the first appointment. Your assessment may include:
MIGDAS-2 (Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum) – A conversation-based, sensory-focused autism assessment.
DIVA-5 (Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults) – A structured interview for ADHD, used if relevant.
Additional Questionnaires – These may assess executive functioning, sensory processing, or mental health.
Adaptive Skills Assessment – To explore everyday life skills.
Family Interviews or External Reports – If relevant and agreed upon.
The MIGDAS-2 and DIVA may be completed on different days and can be done in person or via telehealth.
Step 4: Feedback Session
Once the assessment is complete, we schedule a feedback session (in person or via telehealth).
I will explain the results in clear, easy-to-understand language.
We discuss recommendations and next steps.
Step 5: Written Report or Diagnostic Letter
You can choose to receive either:
A full report with detailed findings and recommendations.
A brief diagnostic letter, which confirms the diagnosis without detailed analysis.
These documents can be used for school, work, support services, or personal understanding.
Fees & Timeline
The number of appointments varies depending on the assessment process.
Fees are discussed before beginning the assessment.
Reports typically take 4 weeks to complete once all information is collected.
